General Rules for All Tournaments
SPANO DOME TOURNAMENT RULES
GENERAL RULES: (corrected 2-7-10)
CHECK IN: Coaches please arrive 1 hour prior to the start of your 1st game to insure your team is properly sanctioned. Please provide a copy of your completed and signed roster also a copy of your insurance to the tournament director.
ADMISSION POLICY: 10 years old and younger as well as uniformed rostered players are admitted free. Everyone will be charged $5.00 per day admission including all coaches. The head coach of each team will receive reimbursement money of $15.00 per day their team plays and will be responsible for the distribution.
NO STEEL CLEATS: Because of safety and insurance requirements steel cleats will not be permitted off the playing field of dirt.
PARKING: Everyone visiting the Spano Dome must park in the Spano Dome parking lot or Spano Bros. Construction property – Do not use the neighbors parking area’s.
TOBACCO PRODUCTS, SEEDS OF ANY KIND, ALCOHOL and DRUGS, FIREARMS, PETS: Are not permitted in or on the facility property at any time.
VISITORS and SPECTATORS: Seating is available on the mezzanine above field # 1 and field # 2. Individual seating along the fields are reserved for the handicapped or as needed visitors and are not to be used for general seating by all. Do not stand along the sides of the fields or team warm up areas or impede the flow of foot traffic. Isle ways must be kept open at all times.
TOURNAMENT RULES:
BERTHS: Number awarded will be determined by the NSA Directors.
FORMAT: 4 game minimum (3 pool with single elimination).
SEEDING: Upon completion of the first two pool games. Tie breakers for seeding are, 1) Head to Head play, 2) Runs allowed, 3) Runs scored, 4) Coin flip.
Tournament is NSA sanctioned and will follow NSA rules and Spano Dome additional rules. Run rule is according to the NSA rule book.
1) Coin flip for home team.
2) Home team is the official scorekeeper.
3) The winning team must turn in scores to tournament director.
4) 8 run rule after 3-1/2 innings if the home team is ahead or 4 innings if the visitors are leading.
5) PROTESTS will require a $75.00 protest fee and protest must be made before the next pitch. The tournament director (or representative), will make the decision and that decision will be final. Judgment calls cannot be protested.
6) NSA Director or Spano Dome has the final say in any rules dispute or plays that are not covered in Spano Dome tournament rules.
7) All pool games will be 1 hour 10 minutes long or 7 innings. No new inning will start after 65 minutes of play. Game is over no matter what team is at bat. Revert back to the last completed inning of play. If the game is a tie the out come will be decided by 1) total runners to 3rd base .2) total runners to 2nd base. 3) Total runners to 1st base. 4) Coin flip.
8) Single elimination bracket play follow rule # 7.
9) Championship game follow rule # 7.
10) No warm ups permitted between games on the infield.
11) Pre game warm up and team bench areas will be assigned upon arrival for each game. Upstairs warm up areas will take the 1st base side while the down stairs warm up area will be on the 3rd base side.
12) Coaches and players must be standing by the gate to enter the field as soon as the game is over. You will have 10 minutes to warm up in the outfield area.
13) Ceiling balls hit in any part of fair territory will be declared a foul ball, three foul ceiling balls and the batter will be out no matter what the ball strike count may be.
14) Batted ball above the marked line in fair territory will be an automatic double to the batter only. Any runners on base ahead of them will advance safely 1 base but may choose to advance on their own but at jeopardy of being put out.
15) Batted ball below the marked line in fair territory will be a single to the batter. Any runners on base will advance 1 base safely but may advance at their own jeopardy.
16) If the ball is stuck in the net or fence in fair territory or leaves the field of play the ball is dead and the batter is awarded 1 base.
17) Defensive playing field will consist of eight (8), players only for 16u and 18u teams. Nine (9), players for 14u, 12u and 10u teams. The use of EP and DP will be permitted.
18) Offensive line up for all teams may consist of nine (9), batters or 11 with the use of EP and DP. Legal substitutions must be made.
19) No infield practice between innings and 3 warm up pitches only.
20) Courtesy runners permitted by NSA rule book.
21) Legal bats will be the responsibility of the coaches. Anyone caught using any illegal bat will be recorded as an automatic out.
22) It is the coach’s responsibility to know the schedule. Schedules will be posted at the Dome bulletin board and at the Directors table. Do not rely on others to check the schedule for you. Missing a game or arriving late will result in a forfeit for your team.
